They got to know each other perilously close to Halloween, just Facebook friends at first. They opted to have lunch together one weekday rather than meet for the first time fully costumed at a party. Probably a good choice, though Jared wasn’t put off when he picked Natalie up for a Halloween party and she answered the door with half-finished lion makup and hair splayed out in a reddish radius around her head. How could you not think that girl was cool? Natalie is a savvy graphic designer, and recently co-founded Coppertop Soirée, an event-planning business. (You can see her business partner’s party handiwork here). Jared is a soon-to-be dentist, but has a fabulously creative streak, as evidenced by the gorgeous custom table he just built for their stylish home. They make an irresistable couple – casually chic, smart, successful, kind.
The clouds masked the sun this weekend, bathing everything in a diffuse, creamy light as we walked through the forest. Their effortlessly fashionable clothes and Natalie’s striking hair popped out against the neutral January landscape – yet another reason to love winter photoshoots. We chatted and wandered through brush and trees, and I apparently scored points with Jared by bringing up Lord of the Rings. (This pleased me immensely, because the hardest part of a photographer’s job is making sure the husbands/fathers/fiancés have a great time, too). As with all shoots, I was sad to see it end, but eager to go home and play with the images. I hope you enjoy basking in this lovely couple’s happiness as much as I do…
Jared pointed out that this forest looked kind of Hunger Games-ish….doesn’t it, though?
Jared and Natalie, you are so fabulously fun to hang out with and photograph! I just can’t wait to see what you go on and create in your lives, you’re both up to your ears in talent and sticktoitiveness. We’ll have to do this again sometime! You and your family are much loved and appreciated. Thanks for spending time with me.
